In 2022 we toured for 5 ROOMS. Adalita supported us on the whole run, and some nights she joined us on stage to sing Wrote You Off, our shoulda-been-single from Burn Out Your Name in 1993.
It was so good, and every performance filled the room with so much joy. So we thought: Let’s record this. So, we did.
We then asked Sydney maestro and great friend Jamie Hutchings (from Bluebottle Kiss amongst many other projects) if he’d like to sing a song for us as well, and he chose Stopless, from Rocks On The Soul.
Both these artists’ renditions of our songs are amazing, heartfelt and ultimately flattering. Their passion towards the project – and to their singing – is palpable, we’re truly honoured. Thank you to both Adalita and Jamie.

Live in Adelaide
I lived on Mt Nebo just out of Brisbane when I wrote this song, sometime I guess in the late 90s, probably 1997.
I wrote in a journal all the time, so a lot of the lyrics came straight from or were part of that time where I was looking back at where I’d been. It was a bit of a summing up my life so far, although I didn’t really know it at the time.
I was listening to a lot of MBV and Stereolab in particular, who I was enamoured with their way of changing vocal melodies instead of changing chords. Their mesmerising way of shapeshifting in songs. So Stopless is pretty much inspired by that. It has 4 chords and it’s the lyrics and the melody that move the song around.
The sounds and dreaminess is a nod to MBV and Sonic Youth but also when we recorded this album, I was listening to Blur’s 13 every day and in particular the song Battle, with it’s deep sub bass and hypnotic 7 minutes of pure vibe. I was obsessed with this song.
24 years later – I’m so thrilled to have Jamie sing this song, and honestly, his raw vocal delivery in the second verse shreds my heart to bits. I wish I could have brought this emotion to the song. Thank you to everyone who made this version of this song happen. It means so much to me.
